Dr. Hakan Aytacoglu, has completed his undergraduate studies at University of Manchester in 2016. He then continued his academic journey at the same institution with his MSc. studies on cancer genetics and molecular biomedicine. In 2025, he has completed his PhD. in the field of Medical Genetics. During his PhD studies he has focused on genes of the DNA repair pathway and their expression mechanisms.

As an active duty member of Department of Medical Genetics at Near East University, Hakan Aytacoglu has participated in many multi-disciplinary research projects and has multiple publications in SCI/SCI-E journals. Besides assisting many MSc. and PhD. thesis projects he served as a member of the executive board of Turkish Cypriot Association of Human Genetics between 2022-2025. His research interests include gene expression pathways, DNA repair mechanisms and synthetic molecule based novel therapeutic approaches.
